In early 2022, Hammerton Barca partnered with Trace Global, a renowned Paris-based music and entertainment platform, to launch the Trace Music Awards in Kigali, Rwanda. This initiative aimed to create an international music event that would bring together top-tier artists and industry professionals from around the globe. This case study delves into the meticulous planning, strategic partnerships, and flawless execution that led to the resounding success of the Trace Music Awards, highlighting Hammerton Barca's expertise in orchestrating world-class events in Africa.
In early 2022, Hammerton Barca embarked on a pivotal journey with Trace Global, a Paris-based music and entertainment platform, to bring the Trace Music Awards to life in Kigali, Rwanda. This task was monumental, not just in scale but in its significance – it was to be a large-scale international music award with numerous high-profile artists and attendees.
The groundwork laid by Hammerton Barca began over a year before the event. The team's involvement spanned from conceptual development to the intricate details of financial and operational planning. Key to their strategy was securing the Rwanda Development Board as a key sponsor, a move that would set the tone for the entire project.
As the event edged closer, Hammerton Barca's role broadened significantly. They meticulously coordinated with vendors, bringing in an event management company adept in African contexts and a technical production company to design and execute the awards show. Recognizing the scale of the event, they also onboarded a logistics director to handle the needs of 52 major Afrobeats artists and a seasoned security head to oversee the entire operation. A senior ticketing expert was brought in to propel ticket sales through strategic financial modeling and marketing.
The result, in October 2023, was nothing short of spectacular. The Trace Music Awards not only hosted 52 top Afrobeats artists, many of whom were visiting Rwanda for the first time, but also achieved a global broadcast, reaching millions of viewers across continents. The event not only showcased Rwanda's beauty and hospitality but also its capability to host world-class events, as seen in the BK Arena.
The success of the Trace Music Awards under Hammerton Barca's guidance elevated Rwanda's status in the global entertainment industry, setting a new benchmark for music awards in Africa. This narrative is a testament to Hammerton Barca's deep understanding of the African events landscape and their ability to navigate the complexities of a large-scale international event, delivering an experience that was beyond expectations.
